*Spartium junceum Linnaeus 1753. Spanish broom.  An introduced shrub characterized by having many erect leafless green stems; leaves when present simple; flowering Apr–Jun; flowers yellow, conspicuous in terminal racemes; fruit ~10× longer than wide, 5–10 cm long, dehiscent.  Reported by Moe to be common along Hwy 178 in the lower part of Kern Canyon.
