In Baja California, only one species of Stegnosperma has been recognized; however, there are clearly two, identified as follows:.

Inflorescence terminal; occurring in Baja California Sur (BCS), and from northwest Sonora 
             to Central America ...................................................................... Stegnosperma halimifolium

Inflorescence lateral; found  along the Gulf Coast from near San Felipe to Isla San
            Luis in Baja California Norte (BCN), ffrom Sonora to Sinaloa and
            in probably in AZ.....................................................................................Stegnosperma watsonii
